We aim to install the Stone Buddha statue that is currently under construction in Sri Lanka at the Connecticut Buddhist Meditation Center. Our goal is to promote the mental health and spiritual development of people around the world.

The construction of this statue follows the artistic style of the Gandhara and Mathura regions and draws inspiration from the Samadhi Buddha statues in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.

Mr. Dinesh Karunaratne, a craftsman and young designer with extensive knowledge of traditional stone statue design, is creating this Samadhi Buddha statue.

Mr. Lakshman, the owner of the Darshana Stone Carving Institute located in Keragala, Gampaha district, has taken responsibility for the statue, and the above designer is doing the finishing of the statue.

The height of the Samadhi Buddha statue is 6 feet 4 inches, width is 74 inches and thickness is 43 inches, weight is about 4.6 tons (4600kg).

By now, about 98% of the work of constructing the statue has been completed. The preliminary work is expected to be completed by the Vesak full moon day, 2023. Immediately after the work is completed, the statue should be taken from Darshana Stone Carving Institute.

Summary

For this, many activities such as organization fees, shipping fees, customs fees, transportation fees, and arrangement of seats for placing the statue must be done.

The creation of the Buddha statue incurred a cost of 12,500 USD, and an additional 1000 USD should be allocated as a tip for the designer. Moreover, the anticipated expenses for shipping, customs, transportation, and storage amount to approximately 35,000 US dollars.
